Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Louisa; I am a pediatrician and mom to a former preemie who is now a thriving and precocious toddler. My passions include my family, spending time adventuring outdoors, and helping my patients and their families thrive. I would describe myself as an enthusiastic amateur at many things, including mountain biking, skiing, swimming, triathlons, writing, gardening, homesteading, and photography. I thoroughly enjoy humiliating myself and celebrating progress as I learn new things. I am passionate about preventive health and evidence-based medicine. As a somewhat crunchy mountain mama, I am drawn to aspects of natural and holistic medicine but maintain a strict internal compass that always points to science and research-backed approaches. One of the most rewarding elements of Pediatrics for me is educating and providing parents with reliable information to help inform the decisions they make for their families. Here you will find a glimpse into my mom-self, my pediatrician-self, and everything in between.

Background

I was born and raised in northern California with my parents, brother, and a few too many cats. I grew up spending much of my time outside and became a competitive swimmer at the ripe age of four. Becoming a physician was an early dream of mine, along with an interest in child development. My mom’s path to a second career in psychology, working toward her Ph.D. while my brother and I were young was a source of inspiration for me. I swam for and attended college at the University of California, San Diego, where I studied pre-med and human development. For medical school, I ventured to the Northeast at The University of Vermont in Burlington, where I met my husband. We moved to Boston together, where Will completed his Emergency training at Beth Israel and me in Pediatrics at Tufts. After falling in love with the seasons of New England, I still yearned to move back to my home coast. We were able to manifest our dream hometown and live and work in California’s stunning Eastern Sierra mountains, where we enjoy a healthy amount of snow to play in. I have the incredible good fortune to practice pediatrics at a rural community clinic as part of a critical access hospital. On days off, you’ll usually find us exploring our magnificent mountain backyard with our daughter and dogs or learning to homestead while enjoying our growing menagerie of pets, including cats and chickens.
